- חֲשַׁאיm. (חָשָׁה) whispering, stillness, secret. Pes.56a להביא בח׳ to offer it to her in secret. Ib. שיהו אומרים … בח׳ that they say it in a whisper. Arakh.16a; Zeb.88b; Yoma 44a דבר שבח׳ something done in secrecy (the offering of frank-incense on the inner altar); מעשה שבח׳ what is committed in secrecy (calumny). Ber.15b; a. fr.Pl. חֲשָׁאִים. Shek. V, 6 לשכת ח׳ the Hall of Secret (donations).
